Web Accessibility: Understanding and Implementing the WCAG

From June 2025 onward, all e-commerce and service platforms in the EU must be accessible in accordance with the European Accessibility Act (EAA). This applies to all companies serving customers digitally within the EU. The EAA provides the guidelines for all EU countries, including Germany. This is put into motion via the 'Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (Accessibility Strengthening Act)' which is legally binding for all companies concerned. The WCAG provides the framework.
